BEST gift to buy for the OT in your life; Practical text for the OT and his/her patients

As both an occupational therapist and medical librarian, I highly recommend this book for therapists and libraries with rehabilitation programs. This is the practical text that the OT needs for working in the field. The author also sells a digital edition on her website with ADDED Spanish materials--it's worth the extra $20 to get it. IF YOU'RE LOOKING TO BUY A GIFT for an OT friend or family member, this is the first resource I would recommend. The book has treatment guides, patient education handouts, patient exercise handouts, and much more! One of the many things I like about this book it that it shows with clear illustrations and text the donning AND doffing of clothes with adaptive equipment and compensatory techniques. Other resources out there show how to put on clothing with the hemiplegia (one-handed) technique or adaptive device, but not how to take clothes off--which is quite important! And, unlike other resources out there, this book has ADL instructions for left AND right hemiplegia, transfers to the left as well as the right, etc.; most resources will show one but not the other. There are also instructions on lower body dressing while sitting on a couch, in a chair, and supine in bed, again, something I haven't seen elsewhere. The chapters include sections on Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), Interventions (on various topics such as home modification, balance, and apraxia), and Conditions & Diseases (like Alzheimer's Disease & its various stages, epicondylitis, depression, rotator cuff repair, stroke, and more). The OT Toolkit clearly illustrates transfer technique (in/out of bed, on/off toilet, etc.), which is helpful for both patient and caregiver when the patient goes home. The author also provides ADL tips and life hacks, and written and pictorial checklists of adaptive equipment by ADL, which the OT can provide to the patient and/or caregiver. There are precautions and guidelines, and valuable lists such as the Hardest/Easiest Functional Vision list, which is handy for helping the OT to develop functional, meaningful activities for the client. I greatly value this book in my daily practice, as do my patients, who benefit from the clear instructions and information I can now provide from this one resource.

OT Bible

This is a must have!! As a COTA student last year
I am a huge fan of your toolkit! Last year I was on my level 2 fieldwork when I found myself scrambling to find an occupational therapy based resource. I searched Google many times and every single time your toolkit came up. I mulled over purchasing it because I just couldn't really spare the cash since I was bringing in any income. But, I decided to look at it as an investment and boy am I glad I did. My supervisor was so impressed when I whipped out my professional looking exercise program to give my patients! Today I am a licensed COTA and I still use the toolkit to provide my patients with exercise packets and other very intervention ideas. I am the advertisement for the toolkit I recommend it to all the therapist and occupational therapy students I know! I have even added it to my OT survival Pinterest board!!! Side bar: I ran into a former patient of mine yesterday and guess what she had in her purse!! The exercise programs I provided from the OT toolkit! She says she does them everyday!!! If you are a student or a family member of someone in the OT field looking for an invaluable resource get the toolkit!! I love it!!! and use it on a daily basis!!

Great addition to any OT reference library

For students, the written steps are short and easy to apply. This helps develop better verbal instructions and cues. The images are simple and make it easy to see body mechanics and positioning. For practitioners, the pages are not copyrighted and can be copied and given to pt./clients to help them remember.
